Uplink is available as two versions; boxed and electronic. Both forms of the game are identical to play, so which you buy is just your preference.

The electronic version is published by Ambrosia Software and is downloadable from their website at anytime (approx 20mb). You will require a license code which you can purchase from the online store and will be delivered instantly. You can also play this version to a certain point unregistered, in 'demo mode'; once registered you can continue with your same player file.

The boxed version is published by Introversion and shipping to destinations outside of the UK normally takes a week or so. A demo of the boxed version is available on Introversion's website.
