- A Group of people hack a corporate system by distracting security and steal a top secret document. At least three hackers are involved. One launches a full scale attack on a public system owned by the company. One is responsible for ensuring all the security systems are taken down and remain down during the hack. The third has the job of going in to the system, grabbing the data and getting out before anyone sees what he is up to.

- A Hacker decides a coder has some great tools and ransacks the guys Server. The tools guy has written these tools himself using a mixture of high level and low level scripting within Uplink, and is currently trying to sell them online. Unfortunately he neglected to defend himself and now his programs and the origional source are out in the wild.

- Two system admins are getting tired of attacks coming from a single source, so they lay a trap and catch a top hacker in the act. They manage to shut down the connection before the hacker could clean up, so they find tons of digital evidence of the crime. They then use the Evidence to get that agent into a lot of trouble - or maybe they call him up and decide to blackmail him. The hacker is not happy about this and decides to go for broke - he issues a new mission - to destroy the evidence of the crime he committed.

- A group of friends who have been playing Uplink Online for a while form a new self contained cell, with their own gateway, Servers, and security net. They make their money by writing new software tools and doing jobs for people, and gradually gain a reputation as skilled and reliable hackers who can do any job if paid enough. They run an entire sub net themselves within Uplink Online.
