The Ambrosia Software Archive Copyright 1993-2019 Ambrosia Software, Inc. Hosted by Tuxedo Jack (tuxedo_jack on Reddit) ======================================== SPECIAL NOTE: __I WILL NOT HELP YOU CRACK OR REGISTER THE GAMES IN THIS ARCHIVE.__ You will need to dig out - or find, though what means you use are your own problem - your own registration codes for the software archived herein. ======================================== Unfortunately, as of August 2019, Ambrosia Software seems to have died - DNS still resolves, but the site's hard-down. This means that we can't get to the installers and user content for the games we know and love, which, as you can imagine, is a problem to retro gamers such as myself. Fortunately, I'm a paranoid schmuck - I don't trust the cloud, I don't trust archive.org completely, and I never delete installers, as you never know when you're going to need them again. As luck would have it, I had an Ambrosia CD on hand, and while it was the Windows one, I have a Mac one _somewhere_ around here as well. ======================================== The archive is pretty straightforward. - Mac contains the installers for Mac versions of Ambrosia software. They are in standard SEA / SIT / HQX / BIN format, and you'll need Stuffit Expander (built into Mac OS after OS 8) to extract and use them. Note that you're probably going to either be using Basilisk II or SheepShaver unless you've got legacy Mac hardware sitting around, in which case you may want to leave these compressed until they get to the Mac (lest the resource / data forks get damaged). - Windows contains - you guessed it - Windows installers. They're EXE files, which can be run inside Windows 2K and higher. EV Nova would probably work with 98SE, though if you're running that, it's probably time to fire up a more modern VM (unless you're running that on actual hardware, in which case, good for you). - Goodies has one file at present - the EV Nova song about it getting released for PC. That'll change. Any plugins for games are in compressed archives in the Plug-ins folder inside the game folder (e.g. "Windows \ EV Nova \ Plug-ins"). These were scanned by Trend Micro WFBS on 28 August 2019 and verified clean. I don't have MD5 / SHA1 checksums for these (because I'm lazy). You're strongly urged to scan them yourself, regardless of my vouching for them, simply because I'm a paranoid schmuck. ======================================== If you have questions, please PM me on Reddit at tuxedo_jack.
